How to decide where to go out to eat

Not in the mood to eat at home? Maybe it was just a long day, and your really just not in the mood to cook. Or perhaps, you are just in the mood for a particular food. Whatever your reasoning is, you ultimately decided that you want to go out to eat, but don’t know where to go.

How many times have you asked the question to somebody, “Where should we eat tonight?” Then the response you receive back is either, “I don’t care”, or “I don’t know?”.

Deciding where, when going out to eat could the most difficult part, but I am here to help you out. No, I am not here to exactly tell you where to eat, but more the less, of giving u a guide of how to decide. This guide will provide steps of what, and how you should consider choosing a food place, and the different factors that go into how your choosing.

What are you in the mood for? :

Before deciding where you are going to eat, you have to first decide what you are even in the mood for. Think about what you are craving? Pizza? Sushi? Fast food? Chinese? Mexican? Also, think about what you ate earlier, or within the past week, it might help you determine what you might be in the mood for now.

What is your budget?:

Figuring out how much money you are willing to spend, can eliminate choices based on just the cost. Before even going out, check the menu, see what you would most likely order, and see how much it would cost you.

When evaluating how much money you are going to spend, the first factor to take into consideration is whether or not the place provides service. If the place has a server, you have to consider paying more to include the tip.

Some tips to saving money while going out to eat are searching for online deal sites, ordering appetizers rather than entrees, sharing a meal, and searching for happy hour food deals.

Are you trying to eat healthy, or watching your diet?:

Another factor in your decision is whether or not you are, “watching what you eat”, and are looking to eat healthy. If you are looking to eat healthy, there are some types of food places that you have to eliminate based on the very limited healthy options they offer.

Some tips to consider when looking to eat healthy when going out to eat are, order from “healthy, light, low fat entrees“, order a salad, and drink water throughout your meal.

How much time do you have, and what type of setting are you looking for?:

When considering where to eat, you have to determine how much time you have, and the type of setting you are looking for. For instance, if you are looking for something quick, you might have to settle with a quick service restaurant, such as fast food, or somewhere you won’t have to wait long for your food, or service. Also, if you wanted a sit down type of place with service, you would want to eliminate places that are more casual.

Checking reviews of the food establishments:

The last thing to consider when choosing where you’re going out to eat is checking out websites that review restaurants. This will allow you have a pretty good sense of how the place is, before you go, and waste your money. While these website are not 100% factual, the reviews may be biased, but if you go through a bunch of them, and compare them to see similar patterns that will show you a pretty well understanding of the place.

Yelp is a very prominently known food review website that can be very helpful to finding out how the place is. Other websites that are helpful are Zomato,  and Trip Advisor.
